CTET Exam Preparation

All You Need to Know About the CTET Exam

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) twice a year, usually in July and December. For candidates who aspire to make a career in teaching at primary (Class I-V) and upper primary (Class VI-VIII) levels, passing the CTET exam is a mandatory requirement.

The exam comprises two papers: Paper I (for primary-level teaching aspirants) and Paper II (for upper primary-level teaching aspirants). Clearing the CTET exam is a highly competitive process, with thousands of applicants appearing for it annually. Therefore, aspirants need to prepare well and have a thorough understanding of the exam pattern, syllabus, and marking scheme.

Those who clear the CTET exam are awarded a CTET certificate, which is valid for seven years from the date of result declaration. There are several books and online resources available to help with CTET exam preparation, and candidates should make use of these resources to meet their career objectives.

As per the announcement made by the CBSE on November 3, 2023, the CTET exam for the December 2023-24 session will be conducted on January 21, 2024. Candidates who wish to appear for the exam can apply online on the CBSE website between November 4, 2023, and December 5, 2023.

The exam is multiple-choice-based and covers a range of topics such as child development and pedagogy, language 1 and 2, mathematics, and environmental studies. Candidates are advised to prepare thoroughly for the exam by referring to the official syllabus and previous year question papers.

To prepare for the CTET exam, candidates should be familiar with the subject-wise syllabus for both papers.
